The two components of the development, the hotel and leisure club & spa, were conceived as a single concept albeit to occupy two physically separate but closely related buildings. The two components complement one another and together would represent a new gateway development for the Harwell International Business Centre north entrance. G Valentino, Milanowith Gianni Botsford Architects Giovanni Valentino, the leather goods company was seeking a design strategy for the new concessions and retails chain they were seeking to establish. The proposal included in result a complete integration of the interior design, graphic design and material, advertising and product design. After the initial proposal for a New York site the first shop unit was completed in the centre of Milan. The small space of the shop interior - a mere 5 x 5 m - was maximised by the concealement of all storage within the sliding walls and the semitransparency of the stainless steel space-frame shelving emphasized by the adjustable ligthing arrangements.
